Samsung & LG Smart TV
Tizen and webOS run IPTV players natively, so no extra box is needed. The catch is that these apps identify your TV by MAC address.
Five steps
Install the player
Open the Samsung App Store or LG Content Store and install Smart IPTV or IBO Player.
Note the MAC address
Launch the app. It shows a MAC address like 00:1A:2B:3C:4D:5E. Write it down exactly.
Send us the MAC
Reply to your welcome email with that address and we attach the playlist to your TV directly.
Reload the app
Close the app fully and reopen it. Your channel list is already loaded.
Set the guide region
Pick Eastern, Central, Mountain or Pacific in settings so the EPG matches your province rather than UTC.
The full Samsung & LG Smart TV walk-through
Smart TV is the one category where the advice genuinely depends on which television you own. Samsung and LG run their own operating systems, not Android, and the app most people have heard of does not exist on either. Knowing that before you start saves a long search for something that was never there.
Find out what your television actually runs
| Brand | System | What this means |
|---|---|---|
| Samsung, 2015 onward | Tizen | Store apps only. No sideloading, ever. |
| LG, 2014 onward | webOS | Store apps only. Two different login styles. |
| LG, 2012β2013 | NetCast | No usable app store. Needs an HDMI stick. |
| Sony, Philips, TCL, Hisense | Android TV / Google TV | Follow the Android box guide instead. |
| Roku TV | Roku OS | Very limited. Screen mirroring or an HDMI stick. |
On Samsung the year is under Settings β Support β About This TV. On LG it is under All Settings β Support β TV Information. Worth thirty seconds, because a 2013 set has no path forward on its own and the honest answer is a Β£40 stick in a spare HDMI port.
Two kinds of player, and the choice matters
Store apps on both platforms split into two families that work completely differently. Picking the wrong one is the most common reason people conclude their television cannot do this.
Login players
You type the credentials into the app on the television itself, using the remote. Slower to enter, but everything lives in one place and there is nothing to renew. Start here.
MAC-address players
These take almost nothing on the television. Instead you read the app's MAC address off the screen, go to the vendor's website on a phone or laptop, and upload your playlist against that address. Fiddlier, and it has two consequences worth knowing in advance.
- Most charge a small one-off fee, tied to that MAC address. Replace the television and you pay again.
- The playlist lives on the vendor's server, not on your set. If that service goes down, your channel list goes with it.
They remain useful on older firmware where the login apps will not install, which is the reason they still exist.
The MAC address step, which is where people stop
- Open the app on the television. It displays a MAC address, usually as six pairs separated by colons.
- Write it down exactly, including the colons. A mistyped character produces a silent failure with no error message.
- On a phone or laptop, go to the vendor's own site and enter that MAC together with the M3U address we sent you.
- Restart the app on the television. The list appears on relaunch, not while you wait on the same screen.
The MAC shown inside the app is the one to use. It is not always identical to the network MAC in the television's own settings, and using the wrong one is a common dead end.
Set expectations on speed
Television processors are considerably weaker than a modern streaming stick. A large channel list can take a couple of minutes to open, and a 4K feed may struggle where a Β£40 stick would not. If your set has an Ethernet socket, use it. If browsing feels sluggish even on a cable, hide the categories you never watch before concluding the service is at fault.
If the television turns out to be a dead end, that is not a wasted evening. Any HDMI stick works, and the Firestick guide covers the most common one.
If it still will not play
Work through the buffering guide before contacting us. If every channel fails on every device, that is worth reporting rather than troubleshooting further.
